Sun's power for Cochin Airport

Cochin International Airport (CIAL) in Kerala is the first in the world to go Solar to power the entire campus. It has helped this first Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model airport in India save handsomely on power bills and also generate surplus.

Imagine an airport adopting a renewable energy source to run its campus, generating surplus power, promoting organic farming and selling the produce to its staff and in the open market and taking up consultancy work for hydroelectric power plants. CIAL or Kochi International airport had hit the headlines in 2013 after being the first in the world to run on solar power. It has utilised the ESG framework effectively and become a case study across the world.

A 45 acre plot now boats of power production of more than 20 crore units after inception of the solar model.
