India's cleanest city-Indore

Once upon a time, dirty beyond description, Indore has shown the way through sheer resolve in being the cleanest city in India for the 5th time in a row.

With close to 2000 tons of garbage generated daily, 6 different types of wastes segregated at source and 850 odd vehicles in service for the purpose, Indore Municipal Corporation has got into business mode by selling the waste and also fuelling the city's buses with bio CNG. Earning money by the sale of carbon credits in the open market internationally, it has developed a systematic method of waste treatment through Asia's largest bio CNG plant with a 150MT capacity.

With an army of more than 8500 cleaning workers, Indore has been declared the cleanest city in India for the 6th consecutive time. The sewage generated is used in the public parks, in farms and in construction activities.

A highly responsible and responsive combination of the public and government machinery has made Indore what it is today with a enhanced level of awareness on the need for cleanliness.

Anything is possible.
